When you start out surfing, you always want to start on a bigger board. It gives you more buoyancy and makes it easier for you to catch waves. The more waves you catch, the more fun you are going to have. Bear in mind that it takes 6 - 8 weeks of regular surfing to get your muscle tone and your paddling fitness up to scratch. Most people, once they’ve accomplished this, choose to start riding a smaller board. With time, you will try out many different shapes and sizes of boards. For this reason, we recommend that you start by purchasing a second hand board to ride. You might even buy and sell a number of different size boards. It is not worth investing in a brand new board until you find the right size and shape board for you to surf in the long term. That is why we sell and buy second hand surf boards and wetsuits. We want to minimize the cost for you while keeping you stoked surfing for longer.
Come and ask us for free advise. We are here to help you choose the right board for your level of surfing. We even have a range of different size boards for you to rent and try to out before you purchase a board. With over 40 years experience, Gary and his team will help you make the best choice when the time is right. Keep in mind that riding a new, expensive board as a beginner doesn’t make you a better surfer. Only time and effort in the water will do that.
We also offer a buy back system for volunteers & interns from abroad which means whatever you buy from us, we will buy back from you at the end of your stay, price depends on condition its in.
